Raag Bilaaval (Bilawal) M.5

A Sikh sings Praises of God and reaffirms his commitment to serving Nirankaar.

“God, You are the Support of my very breath of life; countless times I bow in reverence to You and sacrifice my all to You.

“Prabh Ji Tu mere pran adharey; namaskaar dandautt bandna anik baar jaoo barey.” (rahao).

While sitting down, standing or sleeping, this mind adoringly thinks of You; I share with You my joys and sorrows, and the state of this mind.

“Uthatt bethatt sovatt jagatt eh mann Tujhe chitarey; sukh dukh iss mann ki birtha Tujh hii aggay sarey.”

You are my Shelter and Support, Power, Intellect and Wealth. You are my Family; whatever You do is Good. Gazing upon Your Lotus Feet (Bani), Nanak is at Peace.

“Tu meri Ote Balh Budh Dhan Tum Hi Tumhe mere Parvare; jo Tum karo soyee bhal hamre pekh Nanak sukh Charnarey.”

Bhai Ji further elaborated on October 14, 2024:

Gurbani says we must focus our thoughts on Him at all times.
This starts with repeated chanting of His Name. Slowly this goes inwards and one recites His Name with the mann. Guru Ji says this is “jibhe bajho bolna eio jiwat marna” (Ang 139).
After some time with Guru Ji’s Grace it becomes involuntary and you reach an avastha of “ajappa jaap na vissre aad jugaad samaaiye.” (Ang 1291).
Thus one should never scornfully ever say repeated chanting of His Name is “ratta” or mindless chanting. Loving recital of His Name is never in vain. It leads slowly to higher avastha.

At many places in SGGS Ji, Guru Ji says we should recite His Name, remember Him with love always.

1.”Uthatt bethatt sovatt jaagatt saas saas Har japne.” (Ang 1298)

2.”Uthatt bethatt sovatt jaagat jee pran dhan maal.” (Ang 980).

3.”Uthatt bethatt sovatt jaagat sada sada Har dhiaayeh.” (Ang 379).

4.”Uthatt bethatt sovatt jaagat Har dhiaaiyeh saggal avardaa jio.” (Ang 101).

In this Shabad from Angg 820, Guru Ji says, sitting down, standing up, while asleep and awake, my mind lovingly remembers You.
“Uthatt bethatt sovatt jaagatt eh mann tujhe chitare.”
