Raag Basant – Ang 1192-1196 @Parliament

Contained in SGGS Angs 1192-1196 are Banis of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, including Basant Ki Vaar Mahal 5, Bhagat Banis and the only Shabad in SGGS by Bhagat Raamaanand Ji, which is at Ang 1195.

It starts with Guru Arjan Dev Ji saying that there are 19 saints who were saved by reciting God’s name,  and the 20th saint is Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Of the 19, some of the saints had led fairly sinful lives but they took Gods’ Name and became saints, and this is encouraging for all of us. Guru Ji says that in whatever way God’s name is uttered, it is good but anyone with single minded focus on God, God will save him. Pareet is also very important in this path.
