Raag Kanrah M.5

The Gurus and Bhagats have stressed that Naam is the highest Gift we can pray for and hope to receive. Yet, there are times when one feels the need for some wordly gifts. Since God is the Only Giver, it is natural to ask those gifts from Him too. In this Shabad, besides Naam, the Sikh asks for many other things.

God’s humble servant loves Him; (and says) You are my best Friend and Helper, and have everything in Your Home.

“Jann ko Prabh sangeh asneh; Saajno Tu Meet mera Greh Tere sabh keh.” (rahao).

I plead to be blessed with honor, strength, wealth, property and children; You are the Supreme Treasure of Perfect Bliss, and Grant liberation, the way to all success, and all enjoyments.

“Maan maango taan maango dhan lakhmi sut deh; mukat jugat bhugat puran Parmanand Param Nidhaan.”

Tinged with fear and love for God, Your Saint is enraptured. Nanak is always a sacrifice unto You.

“Bhay bhaye bhagat nihaal Nanak sada sada kurbaan.”
