SGGS Ang 974
Raag Ramkali – Ramkali Bani Beni Jio Ki
This is a most difficult Shabad. It Speaks of the Mystical Daswa Dwar. As you listen to the Kirtan, read the commentary, with the Guru’s Grace, some Insight will seep in. He Resides within all of us.
Since time began, man has been searching for God.
He searched for Him in the babas and their deras.
He searched for Him in the skies, the earth, in idols, icy mountains, springs, nature, in fire, in wood, every possible place.
The Gurus say He certainly is Pervading the Entire Cosmos, and is in every pore of the Universe.
Although He is Everywhere, to Find Him, to Meet Him, you must go inwards.
You can see His Wonderous Workings in the world around you, in His Kudrat, but to Meet Him, you must go deep inwards in simran, with Shabad as your Guide, and with Gur Parsad, you shall See Him. Any other search outside is a futile one, and Guru Ji says,
“Bahar Toley So Bharam Bhulahi.” (Ang 102).
In this Shabad, Bhagat Beni Ji speaks to some devotees going to a Kumbh Mela.
They urged Bhagat Ji to join them, go to Prayag. There, he could wash off his sins in the waters of the confluence (known as sangam) of the rivers, Ganga, Jamuna, and Saraswati (known as Tribeni).
The devotees speak of the great luck upon you to be able to take a bath at the Kumbh.
In each pada Bhagat Ji describes God’s Majesty and His Surroundings in the Deepest Niche of the Daswa Dwar.
Fascinating Shabad. Listen to the Kirtan, go deep inwards and plead with Him to give His Darshan. He is Always Kind and Compassionate.
1.This Shabad by Bhagat Beni Ji has 9 padas, and describes Nirankar Ji (Jote Saroop) in the Daswa Dwar.
Bhagat Ji starts by stating the three central nadis (nerves) Ida Pingla and Sukhmana, and the three modes of maya (teen) all emanate from One (basse Eik thaee).
“Ida Pingla aur Sukhmana teen basse Eik Thaee.”
In that Eik Thaee, Beni Ji says, there is his Prayag, and his mann takes a purification bath there.
“Beni Sangam Teh Prayag mann majjan kare Tithaee.”
O Saints, there the Immaculate (Untouched by maya – Pure) All Pervading Lord dwells.
“Santo Taha Niranjan Raam Hai.”
Most rare are those persons who go to the Guru to understand this.
“Gur gamm chinne birla koye.”
There, the Pure, All Pervading Lord Resides.
“Taha Niranjan Rameiya Hoye.” (Rahao).
2. A question is posed to Bhagat Ji by the unbelieving crowd. What indication is there that you are at the Lord’s Divine Dwelling?
“Dev Sthanne Kya Nishanee”
Bhagat Ji answers. Unlike the physical world where you need to strike some instrument to make sound, there, the Unstruck Sound Current (Dhun) of the Shabad Resounds.
” Teh Bajhe Shabad Anahad Bani”
Unlike the physical world of five elements, there, no moon, nor sun, nor water exists.
“Teh Chand Na Suraj Paun Na Paani”
It is the Gurmukh, in whom the Guru’s Teachings have come alive, who is Blessed to see/know all this.

“Upjhe Gyan Durmatt Chijhe.”
The sky of the mind, gets drenched deep within with Ambrosial Nectar (Naam).

3.This Place, the Dasam Dwara (Tenth Gate) is the Home of the Inaccessible, Infinite, Supreme Lord.
“Dasam Dwara Aggam Apara Param Purakh Ki Ghati.”
At the Highest Plane is a Niche, and within this Niche is the Divine Commodity (Jote).
“Upar Haat Haat Par Aala Aale Bhittar Thaati.”
This Jote is Forever Awake/Aware and Never Sleeps.
“Jaagat Rahe So Kabho Na Sovhe”
One who reaches there, for him the three qualities (of maya), and the three worlds (Universe) vanish. He is in a State of Samaadhi – Eternal Union.
“Teen Tilok Samaadh Palovhe”
He enshrines the Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra (Mool Mantar), and enshrines It in his heart.
“Beej Mantar Leh Hirde Rahe.”
Such a person turns his mind away from the world, and focuses upon the Vibrant Cosmic Stillness of the Absolute Lord.
“Mannua Ulatt Sunn Meh Gahe.”
Such a person is ever Awake/Aware, and does not lie.

He cherishes in his consciousness, his Guru’s Teachings.
“Gur Ki Sakhi Rakhe Cheet”
His mind and body are dedicated to the Lord’s Love.
“Mann Tann Aarpe Krishan Preet.”
4. One should reflect and delve deep into his mind, and regard his hands as twigs and branches of the Divine Tree, as offshoots of the Divine One. (He is the Main Stem and the Roots).
“Kar Pallav Sakha Bichare”
He should not lose the value of his life in the gamble (chase for maya, and other useless pursuits)
“Apna Janam Na Juve Haare”
He should dam up the river of evil tendencies at it’s very source.
“Asur Nadhi Ka Bandhe Mool.”
The mortal should turn away from the west (setting sun i.e. ignorance), and make the sun of his mind rise in the east.
“Pacham Fer Chadavhe Soor.”
As he bears the unbearable, drops of Amrit will trickle down within his mann.
“Ajarr Jarre So Nijhar Jhare.”
He will then be able to have dialogues with the Lord of the World.
“Jaggan Nath Seyo Gosht Kare.”
The Jote is a Lamp which illuminates all four sides of the Tenth Gate.
“Chaumukh Deeva Jote Dwar.”
The Primal Lord is at the Epicenter of the Countless Leaves.
“Pallu Anant Mool Bichkaar”
He Himself Abides There With All His Powers.
“Sarab Kalaa Leh Aape Rahe.”
The mann now becomes a Priceless Jewel Weaved with Pearls.
“Mann Maanak Ratna Meh Guhe.”
The Lotus of the Lord’s Seat is at the forehead, Surrounded by Jewels (of His Naam, Radiance).
