Guidelines for Sahaj Path:

At the request of the sangat, Bhai Manjeet Singh Ji suggested the following guidelines for those taking part in sahaj paths which were coordinated by watsapp

These paaths were arambh with proper maryada in gurdwaras and bhog was also done in gurdwaras by sanggat.

The guidelines were for those reading the path in between arambh and bhog

Bhai Manjeet’s suggestions:

  1. Do a short ardas before sitting down to read the paath. Ask for Guruji’s kirpa dhristi for you to read paath well.
  1. Those who cannot read should also do the same ardas. Except you ask permission to listen (sunn ke) and complete the sahaj paath. Just because you are listening does not mean you can walk around and listen. Sit down and listen until you decide to take a break.
  1. After each paath session do a short ardas. This time in shukrana for having allowed you to read/listen to sahaj paath.
  1. As the full Japji Sahib Ji has been read at the arambh in sanggat you should read from Angg 8 i.e from So Dar.
  1. Each time you read/listen a few anggs you should not stop anywhere you please. Read until the next mool mantar (sometimes called bisraam). Gurbani is Divine revelation – dhur ki Bani. Even the arrangement of Gurbani is with Divine insight of the Guru. Each time a cluster of Shabads appears there is an underlying flow/larhi to the Shabads. If you stop halfway, you are actually interrupting the flow of the larhi set out by Guruji.

Thus, if you start at Angg 8, the earliest you can stop is at Angg 10 where Raag Asa Mehla 4 So Purakh starts.

The next bisraam is at angg 12 where Raag Gauri Deepki Mehla 1 begins. This ends at Angg 13.

At Angg 14 Bani listed under 31 Raags begins with Raag Sri Raag Mehla 1,  you should only stop at Angg 26 where the next bisraam (1 Oaugkar Satgur Parsad) occurs and Sri Raag Mehla 3 begins.

If you start from Angg 26 Sri Raag Mehla 3 you should stop only at Angg 53 where the next bisraam is found. And Sri Raag Mehla 1 Asthpadiyan begins.

And so on.

  1. You should read/listen till Angg 1426. The paathan de bhog will be done collectively in sanggat and you shall be informed of the dates.
  1. You must have a pen and a notebook with you each time you sit down to read/listen to paath. Memories can be very unreliable. Best to make a note each time you stop and refer to the note at the next session.
  1. This is a journey of love – prema bhagti towards union with Nirankar with the grace of the Satguru. Do reflect upon whatever you read or listen with shardaa and love. You are vadhbhagee to be able to do or listen to Sahaj paath.
  1. The above are broad guidelines. You must be guided by love and satkaar for Gurbani.
