Shabad Veechar of Raag Gauree SGGS Ang 326-329 (Ang 326- Shabad no. 15) followed by simran by Bhai Manjeet Singh Ji at Damansara Darbar on Sunday, 9 April, 2023.

Bhagat Bani makes up about 14% of the Bani in SGGS Ji. The central themes in Bhagat Bani are the same as expressed by the Sikh Gurus in SGGS Ji. All Bani in SGGS Ji is Dhur Ki Bani and is Perfect and Infinite.

Bhagat Kabir Ji has some 541 Shabads in SGGS Ji, the highest volume amongst the Bhagats.

Bhagat Ji’s Bani is ever fresh and invigorating. Bhagat Ji has 4 Shabads in SGGS Ji where he says he left Benares towards the end of his life and shifted to Maghar, about 40 kilometers away.

It is the belief amongst Hindus that the devas Ganesh and Shiva had blessed Benares in that anyone who dies there goes straight to heaven.
Bhagat Ji lived in Benares most of his life. He did not believe that merely by dying at Benares one would go to heaven.
On the other hand, it is believed that Maghar is a cursed town and anyone who dies there will be reincarnated as a donkey.

The fearless Bhagat left Benares a few months before his death and shifted to Maghar. He wanted to demonstrate to all that it does not matter where you die.

It is your prema bhagti and your conduct in this world which will determine your place in the afterlife. As we read Shabad no. 15 and do Vichaar on the Shabad we shall see and be amazed at the Bhagat’s views about death.
