Question from a satsanggi:
“Recently I did an Akhand Paath. I listened as much as I could. I regularly try to do sewa.
My ardas was in Shukrana of Guruji and for fulfillment of my spiritual journey and of darshan with His grace. This is the hukam given by Guruji at the bhog.
Can you please share some insight? Thank you.

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਚਉਪਦੇ
(ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
(One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru)
ਏਕੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਹਾਈ ॥
(The One God is our father; we are the children of the One God. You are our Guru)
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
(Listen, friends: my soul is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You; O Lord, reveal to me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan)
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਧੂਰੀ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
(Listen, friends: I am a sacrifice to the dust of Your feet).
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
This mind is yours, O Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause||
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੂ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
I wash your feet, I massage and clean them; I give this mind to you.
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਉ ਦੇਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸਾ ॥੨॥
Listen, friends: I have come to Your Sanctuary; teach me, that I might unite with God. ||2||
ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਈਐ ॥
Do not be proud; seek His Sanctuary, and accept as good all that He does.
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀਜੈ ਇਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
Listen, friends: dedicate your soul, body and your whole being to Him; thus you shall receive the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||3||
ਭਇਓ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
He has shown mercy to me, by the Grace of the Saints; the Lord’s Name is sweet to me.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥
The Guru has shown mercy to servant Nanak; I see the casteless, immaculate Lord everywhere. ||4||1||12||
Bhai Manjeet’s response:
Wah. Your hukam says you want darshan. You go to your Guru and say “I have surrendered my mann to You.”
“Eh mann tera bhai”
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(This mind is yours, O Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause||)
You further say I am engaged in Your sewa.
“Paav malova mall mall dhova…”
Again you say, I have given my mann to you.
“Eh mann teh ku dessa.”
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੂ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
(I wash your feet, massage and clean them; I give this mind to you).
But Guruji says how to give darshan yet…,?
You have to give up your ahankar.
“maan na kijje”
You have to learn to accept His bhana.
“Kare so bhala manaiye”
ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਈਐ ॥
(Do not be proud; seek His Sanctuary, and accept as good all that He does).
You have to go further and surrender completely.
Not only your mann, but your jeev, your body, your very being.
“… jio pind sabh tan arpije …”
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀਜੈ ਇਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
(Listen, friends: dedicate your soul, body and your whole being to Him; thus you shall receive the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||3||)
Only then can you hope for darshan.
Lots of sewa and spiritual ghaalna needed.
But take heart. You are on the right track. Dive deeper into Naam and do Guruji’s sewa with greater gusto.
