Jaitsri Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

Bhagat Ji describes the distressing condition of one whose mind has been sold to maya. Maya will delude you and you will not see the deceptions that are being played upon you.

There are many Shabads like this in SGGS Ji. One has to relate each Shabad in SGGS Ji to himself, and reflect upon the Bani. Such a Shabad as the present one will make you realise your faults, understand your misconceptions and slowly help your jeev to rise upwards.

The 1st line is a direct admission of ignorance. Lord, I know nothing..
“Naath kachu na jaano.”

The 2nd line traces why he is so spiritually ignorant. He has sold his mind to the deceiving, enticer maya.
“Mann maya ke haath bikaano.”

You, Lord are Master and Guru of the world, while I am a lustful being of this miserable age of Kalyug.

“Tu kahiyat ho Jagat Gur Suami; ham kahiyat Kalyug ke kaami.”

The five vices have ruined my mind; moment by moment they lead me further away from You.

“Ein panchan maro mann jo bighariyo; pal pal Har Ji te antar paariyo.”

I see loads of pain and suffering everywhere; I have no faith although the Scriptures bear witness to the Lord.

“Jatt dekho tatt dukh ki raasi; ajho na patiaye nigham bhaye sakhi.”
