Antt-Vela

Question from a satsanggi:

What is the meaning behind this line?

“Antt Kee Baylaa Laay Chhadaaee”

(At the very last moment, He will save you)

(SGGS Ang 895)

The line tells you to use the human body wisely. Sing the Lord’s praises. Here and hereafter He will take care of you.

“Antt” means final moment. That moment when He decides to save you is really the antt – end of all your troubles.
There are 2 aspects to antt. In Rehiras Sahib we are told

“akha jeevan visray mar jaoo” (if I sing Your praises I live, if I forget You, I die spiritually).

So in this world when you are spiritually dead and you turn to Him, and as you sing His praises, He will decide to put an end – antt to your troubles, and revive you spiritually.

It can also mean that just as you are about to physically die, He may grant His grace and save you.

But Bani tells us not to take the risk and wait until the last moment. Because if you do not have Naam within you, it is impossible to pray in the final moments.

“Aavai antt na bhajiya jayee..”  (When the end comes, you will not be able to vibrate and meditate on Him). (SGGS Ang 1159).
