Raag Sri Raag M.1.
Guru Ji tells us that the Lord cannot be deceived. Nor can He be harmed in any way.
Some scholars have interpreted “achall challaiye” to mean maya. But as one goes deeper into the Shabad, it becomes clearer that the “Achall challaiye” is God Himself.
“Achhal chhallaiye nah chhalai nah ghao katara kar sakai”
He cannot be deceived nor can he be harmed by any weapons.
So, it is best to accept His Will and live as He keeps us; the greedy ones (who do not accept His Will) find they are tossed this way and that.
“Jio Sahib rakhe tyo rahe iss lobhi ka jio tall bhallay”
Then GuruJi poses a question. How can the lamp be lit without oil?
Lamp means enlightenment. Oil here refers to Scriptures. You must have a wick of God’s fear (i.e. you must fear breaching His Hukam). And, when there is understanding the inner lamp of enlightenment will radiate.
“Pothi puraan kamaaiye; bhao vatti eh tann paaiye”
“Sach bhujjan aan jallaiye”
“Eih tehl diva eio jalle; karr chanan Sahib tao millay” (rahao)
“Eith an lagai bānia; Sukh hovai sev kamania”
“Sabh duniaa avan jania; Vich dunia seve kamaiai”
“Ta dargeh baisan paiai; Kaho Nānak bāh ludāiai”
