Guru Ji talks about the Oneness of God and His Majesty in every aspect. It is important to let the teaching of Ek seep into us. Most just pay lip service to this Attribute of God. Once it sinks in that God is indeed One, a lot of strife, jealousy, prejudice and discrimination about race, gender and a host of other issues fades away. Guru Arjun Dev Ji in fact says if you remember the One Lord fondly, sing Praises of One, the One Lord manifests Himself and bestows Darshan.

“Har Ek chitvay Prabh Ek gaiyay Har Ek dhristi aaya” (Ang 925).

This Ek is also in infinite forms.

“Aape Har Ek rang hai Aape baho rangi; jo Tis bhave Nanaka sayee gall changee” (Ang 726).

In the Shabad herein, Guru Ji says God is Wise, Eternal and Unchanging; You are my honor and social class; You are Firm and Unwavering – how can I then have any fears?

“Tu Dana Tu Abichal Tuhi Tu jaat meri paati; Tu adhol kade dolay nahi ta ham kaisee tatee.”

You are Truly One O Lord; You alone are King; by Your Grace I have found peace.

“Ekay Ekay Ek Tuhi; Ekay Ekay Tu Raiya; Tao kirpa te sukh paaya” (rahao).

You are the Ocean and I am Your swan; Rubies and Pearls (Naam) is found in You; (In Your Grace), You Give and do not hesitate for an instant; I receive and am enraptured forever.

“Tum Sarvar ham hans Tumare Tum me Manak Laala; Tum devho til sank na maano ham bhunchay sada nihaala.”

I am Your child and You are my Father; You place milk (nourishment) in my mouth; I sport with You and You cherish me in every way. You are forever the Profound Ocean of Excellence.

“Ham barak Tum Pita hamare Tum mukh devho kheera; ham khelay sabh laad ladave Tum sadh Guni Gaheera.”

You are Perfect, Pervading all completely, in Your Company I am fulfilled as well; merging, merging, merging, I remain merged. Nanak says this is beyond words.

“Tum Puran Puur Rahe Sampuran ham bhi sang aghaaye ; milat, milat, milat mil rehiya Nanak kehan na jaaye.”
