Raag Dhanaasree (Dhanasree) M.5

A Sikh who has gone through very difficult times, relates his experiences, and talks to the Guru. The Guru gives Divine advice to the Sikh.

The Sikh says (I tried various methods), but this body, mind and soul belong to Him. He alone is All Wise and knows what to do; only He listened to my (wavering between) difficulties and happinesses, and then my condition improved.

“Jis ka tann mann dhan sabh Tis ka soyee Sughad Sujanee; tin hi suniya dukh sukh mera tao bidh niki khatanee.”

My inner being has faith in the One Lord (Naam) only; others make all kinds of efforts but these have no value at all.

“Jee ki Ekay hee peh manee; avar jattan kar rahe bahuterey tin tilh nahi keemat janee.” (rahao).

The Guru gave me the Priceless Diamond of Ambrosial Naam; (and told me) do not fall or waver. Be steadfast and steady. You will get Perfect satisfaction (from Naam).

“Amrit Naam Nirmolak Heera Gur dinno Mantanee; diggay neh dollay dhrirh kar rehiyo puran hoye triptanee.”

Relieved, the Sikh says, God, those things which tore me away from You are now gone; as an ornament I thought I was separate from You but as I have been melted away (all my impurities and differences removed), I find that my base is Gold (i.e. I am precious and from a Divine Source – my mool is the Jote).

“Oye jo beech ham tum kach hotey tin ki baat bilanee; alankar milh thaylee hoyee hai ta te kanakk vakhanee.”

The Sikh says, the Divine Light (Jote) has manifested in me, and I am filled with Celestial Peace and Glory. The Unstruck Melody of the Lord’s Bani resounds within me.”

“Pargateyo Jote sahaj sukh sobha bajey anhad Bani.”

The Guru concludes. Nanak says, your eternal home has been built. The Guru (Shabad), constructed it for you.”

“Kaho Nanak nichal ghar bandheyo Gur keeyo bandhanee.”
