Guru Ji gives Divine Advice about the selfish nature of the world. Instead of relying on others, we should have full faith and rely only upon God. Even if there are genuine relationships, these are temporary, and do not last beyond death.
O my dear friend enshrine this Advice in your mind; the world is entangled in thoughts of its own selfish happiness. No one is for anyone else.
“Pritam jaan leho mann mahi; apne sukh seyo hi jag fandeyo ko kahu ko nahi.” (rahao).
In good times, many come and sit together, surrounding you from all four sides; but when hard times come, they all leave and no one comes near you.
“Sukh meh aan bahut milh baithatt rahat chahu diss ghere; bipatt paree sabh hi sang chadatt kouu neh aavat nere.”
Your wife whom you love so much (and who expressed so much love for you), and who has remained ever attached to you; runs away crying “ghost, ghost” as soon as the swan soul leaves the body.
“Ghar ki naar bahut hith ja seyo sada rahat sang lagee; jab hi hans taji eh kaayan pret pret kar bhagee.”
This is the way they act – those whom we love so much; Nanak says, in the final moments, no one is of any help besides the Dear Lord Himself.
“Eh bidh ko biohaar baneyo hai ja seyo neho lagaieyo; antt baar Nanak bin Har Ji kouu kaam nah aayo.”
