Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.5

A jeev isteri expresses her inner yearning to meet God.

The loving desire to meet my Beloved has welled up in my mind; I attach myself to His Feet (Bani), plead with Him to bless with the good fortune to meet a Saint (Guru).

“Prabh milbay ko preet mann laagi; paaye laggo mohe karo bentee kouu Sant milhe badbhagee.” (rahao).

I would surrender my mind and place my wealth before Him, and renounce all the conceited learning I have acquired; one who teaches me the Sermon of the Lord (Shabads, Gurbani) I would adoringly follow Him night and day.

“Mann arpho dhan rakho aggay mann ki matt mohe saggal tyaagi; jo Prabh ki Har katha sunahve andinn firho Tis pichay viraagi.”

When it is time for my past efforts to sprout (bear fruit), I would meet the Loving Lord, who is detached from all; (meeting Him) my darkness (of ignorance) would be dispelled, and I would awaken from many births of sleep (of ignorance).

“Purab karam ankur jab pargatey bhetiyo Purakh Rassak Bairaagee; mitiyo andher milat Har Nanak janam janam ki soyee jaagee.”
