Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.4

In the beginning two lines of the Shabad, Guru Ramdas Ji tells us about the amazing Satguru (Shabad). The rest of the Shabad relates the experiences of a Sikh as he makes sincere effort to merge in the Satguru (Shabad).

Guru Ji says, the Satguru (Shabad) is one who meets you and fills your mind with bliss; as you meet Him (merge into the Shabad – Guru), your double mindedness is banished and you obtain the highest spiritual state.

“Jis miliye mann hoye anand so Satgur kehiye; mann ki dubida binass jaye Har Param Pad lehiye.”

After hearing about the Glory of the Satguru, the Sikh now says. How can I meet (unite with) my Beloved True Guru?; each and every moment I bow to Him with reverence, and ask how will I meet (unite with), my Perfect Guru (Shabad).

“Mera Satgur Pyara kit bidh milay; hao khin khin kari namaskaar mera Gur Pura kyo milay.” (rahao).

By His Grace, the Lord has led me to meet my Perfect True Guru; the desires of this humble servant have been fulfilled. I have received the dust of the Feet (Bani) of the True Guru.

“Kar kirpa Har meliya mera Satgur Pura; ish punee jann keriya le Satgur dhura.”

As you meet the True Guru, He makes you listen to devotional worship of the Lord, and He implants loving devotion for God within you; there is never any loss at all and the Lord daily implants Profit (Naam Dhan) within you.

“Har bhagat dhrrihave Har bhagat sunnay Tis Satgur miliye; totaa mool na aavahe Har labh nit dhrrihiye.”

One who has no love for maya and has his heart blossoming forth in joy; Nanak says, such a person meets the Guru, sings the Praises of the Lord, and is saved.

“Jis ko riday vigaas hai bhao dujja nahee; Nanak tis Gur milh udrey Har gunn gavahee.”

One gets blessed with inner joy (anand) when the suratt Merges with Shabad. That Shabad is your Satguru.
“Jis miliye mann hoye anand so Satgur kehiye.”

As the Merger of Shabad and suratt takes place, all your doubts, insecurities, fears and dependence on others disappears.
“Mann ki dubida binass jaaye Har Param Padh lehiye.”
