Raag Bilavaal (Bilawal) M.5

A Sikh pleads for His grace. What does he ask for?

Bless me with such Mercy O Lord
“Aisee kirpa mohe karo.”

That my forehead be at the Feet of the Saints (Guru), my eyes behold their blessed Darshan and my body fall at the dust of Their Feet i.e. I live in utter humility in their blessed company.

“Santeh Charan hamaro mathaa nainn daras tann dhoor parho” (rahao).

The Sikh further pleads that may the Guru’s Shabad abide in my heart and the Lord’s Name be enshrined in my heart.

“Gur ko Shabad mere hiarey bassay Har Nama man sang dharo.”

Please drive out the five thieves and let my doubts burn away like incense.

“Taskar panch nivarho Thakur saglo bharma hom jarho.”

The final pada is acceptance of His Bhana and a plea for sadh sanggat.

Only You, the Great Giver, are the God of Nanak; as I sit in the congregation of Saints, (satsangat), please liberate me.

“Nanak ke Prabh Tum hi Datey
Santsang le mohe udhro.”
