SGGS Angg 1291

Raag Malaar M.1.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji has 3 Vaars in SGGS Ji, Majh ki Vaar, Asa ki Vaar, and Malaar ki Vaar.

Malaar ki Vaar has 28 pauris. This is the final pauri. Pauri 28 being the concluding pauri, contains a summing up of the teachings in the Vaar. It has pointed reference to One as the True Doer, and the Life Force pervading everywhere, aware of everything, yet always Merciful and Gracious.

Addressing God, Guru Ji says You operate in everything and You set up all circumstances; there is no other at all, besides You, and You are permeating in all.

“Tu Aape Aap Vartdaa Aap Banatt Banayee; tudh bin dujja ko nahi Tu rehiya samayee.”

You alone know Your state and extent. Only You can estimate Your worth; You are Invisible, Unfathomable and Inaccessible; You are revealed through the Guru’s Teachings.

“Teri gatt mitt Tu hai jaanda Tudh keemat payee; Tu Alakh Agochar Aggam hai Gurmatt dikhayee.”

Deep within, there is ignorance, suffering and superstition, these are eradicated through the Guru’s Wisdom; in Your Mercy You allow meditation upon Your Name, and Unite with Yourself.

“Antar agyaan dukh bharam hai Gur gyaan gavayee; jis Kirpa kare Tis melh lahe so Naam dhiayee.”

You are the Creator Lord, the Inaccessible Primal Lord, pervading all spaces; to whatever You link the mortal O True Lord, they attach themselves. Nanak sings Your Praises.

“Tu Karta Purakh Aggam hai reviya sabh thayee; jit Tu layeh Sachiya titt ko laggay Nanak gunn gayee.”
