Raag Todee (Todi) M.5

A Sikh pleads with his Satguru. I have taken Your Sanctuary. Please, remove my karmic accounts and save me.

O True Guru I have come to Your Sanctuary; grant me the peace and glory of the Lord’s Name, and remove my anxiety.

“Satgur aayo Sharan Tuhari; milhe sukh Naam Har sobha chinta laaye hamari.” (rahao).

I cannot think of any other Shelter. I am weary and have collapsed at Your Door; please release (wipe out) my accounts, and make me free. I claim no merits – please save me.

“Avar na sujjay dujji thahur haar bhareyo tao duaree; lekha chodh alekhay chutay ham nirgun leho ubaree.”

You are always Forgiving and Merciful, and provide Support to all; servant Nanak follows the Path of the Saints (Gurus), please save me this time (in this life).

“Sadh Bakhshind sada Mehervana sabhna deh udaree; Nanak dass Sant pache bhareyo rakh leho eh baree.”

Bhai Ji further elaborated on August 19, 2024:

At Angg 1127, Guru Amardas Ji declares that our jeev is held in bondage by its actions. It can only be freed from this karmic baggage by Uniting with the Satguru (Shabad).
“Kahat Nanak eh jio karam bandh hoyi; bin Satgur bhetay mukat na hoyi.”

In this Shabad, a Sikh comes to the Satguru’s Sharan and prays to be relieved of all karmic lekhas.
“Lekha chodh alekhe chutay ham nirgun leho ubaree.”
