Guru Gobind Singh Ji Joti Jote Samaaye on 8th October 1708, at Nanded, Maharashtra.

As the Indian Calendar dates change over time, currently, it is taken to be 20th October, 1708.

Before His departure from the physical world, Guru Ji declared the following words.

“Agya bheyi Akal ki tabhi chalayo Panth; Sabh Sikhan ko Hukam hai Guru Maaniyo Granth; Guru Granth Ji Maaniyo Pargat Gura di Deh; Jo Prabh ko Milbo Chahe Khoj Shabad Me Leh.”

This was recorded in the Bhatt Vahis by Narbud Singh, who was an eyewitness at Nanded.

Later, this Dohra was recorded by Gyani Gyan Singh in his book, Panth Parkash around 1880.

The Dohra shows it is a Hukam (not a mere request) by the Guru. It is addressed to all Sikhs (Sab Sikhan), not only the Khalsa.

It clearly states the Guru for all Sikhs now and forever is Shabad Guru Ji, and this Shabad Guru Ji can Unite you with God.

What an amazing Guru, the Tenth Master was. By One Stroke He abolished Guruship in physical form and established Gurgaddi Jugho Jugh Atal for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji only and upon no one else.
