Raag Ramkali M.5
Guru Ji tells us about the perishable nature of everything around us. We tend to get too engrossed in these products of maya, and forget that none of these shall go with us.
You must abandon your beauty, pleasures, fragrances and enjoyments; you have been beguiled by maya’s gold and lust (kanakk is gold, kaamini is lust).
“Roop rang sogundh bhog tyaag chale maya shalley kanakk kaamini” (rahao).
You delight in and find comfort, as you gaze upon billions and trillions of treasures and riches; but these will not go along with you.
“Bhandar darabh arabh kharabh pekh leela mann sadharey; neh sang gaamnee.”
Entangled with children, spouse, siblings and friends, you are enticed and fooled into bondage. These are (temporary) like the shade of a tree.
“Sutt kalatr bhraat meet urjh bhareyo bharam mohiyo eh birakh shaamnee.”
(To break from these bondages), Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of His Lotus Feet (Gurbani), and eternal peace from His Saints.(Satguru).
“Charan Kamal Sharan Nanak sukh Sant bhaavnee.”
