SGGS Angg 186.
Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.5.
Guru Arjun Dev Ji tells us about the Shabads/Bani Guru Ji collected from the preceding Guru Sahibs.
Guru Ji starts the Shabad by saying He is fortunate to have received the True Name.
“Ham dhanvant bhaghath sach naee”
I lovingly sing Praises of the Lord.
“Har gun gavhe sahaj subhai (rahao).
Guru Ji says as He looked at the Treasure of His Father and Grandfather, His mind was in joy.
“Pio daday ka khol ditha khazana: ta mere man bheya nidhana”
These Shabads are Priceless Rubies and Jewels; the Storehouse is filled to the brim with the Inexhaustible, Immeasurable Treasure (of Naam).
“Rattan Laal ja ka kachu na molh; Bharey Bhandar akhoot atolh.”
As brothers, meet together, eat and spend (recite Naam and share the Bani); these Resources shall never diminish, rather they will continue to increase (the berkat of Naam).
“Khaveh kharcheh rall mill bhai; tote na aave vad do jayee.”
Nanak says, one who is fortunate to have such destiny written on his forehead; is then taken and united with this Treasure.
“Kaho Nanak jis mastakk lekh likhaye; so eth Khajanay leiya ralaiye.”
(Before the Union/Merger with Naam/Shabad/Guru/God, (which are really all One), He will put you to many tests in life. If you remain faithful on the Path and accept all sukh and dukh in His Bhana, give up reliance on maya, He then adds you to the Treasure).
Angg 1345 “aisay jan virlay jag andar parakh khajaney paaya.”
The process of testing is unendurable. You have to “ajarr jarey”, bear the unbearable. When the last vestiges of ego (haumai) have been smashed, and your conceit (aapa) purged, all delusions, angers, passions, grudges burnt away, then in His absolute Mercy, He Unites you with His Treasure (Naam).
Many are unable to take the pain and the cleansing/purifying which takes place, and they waver to some other supports of maya and abandon Niranjan Naam. Those who run away from this “bikham marag”, end up in bondages, and the cycle of reincarnation.
Angg 1019 ” jo bhagge tis joni firna.”
