Raag Sorath M.5
Guru Ji tells us about Naam, and the Glory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Guru Ji tells us we should take a cleansing bath, and remember God in meditation. Your body and mind will be free from disease; millions of obstacles are removed in God’s Sanctuary, and good fortune dawns.
“Kar ishnaan simar Prabh apna mann tann bhaye arogha; kot biggan lathe Prabh Sharna pargatey bhale sanjogha.”
God’s Bani in the form of Shabads, are the most sublime utterances; constantly sing, read and listen to those Shabads, and the True Guru shall Protect you.
“Prabh Bani Shabad sobakhiya; gavho sunho parho nit bhai Gur Purey tu rakhiya.” (rahao).
The Merciful Lord is Eternal, of Immeasurable Glory, and loves His Saints; He has preserved the honour of His Saints from the very beginning of time. His Innate Nature is to Cherish His Saints.
“Sacha Sahib amit Vadayee Bhagat Vashal Dyalaa; Santa ki paij rakhda aaya Aad Birdh Pritpalaa.”
Eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food. Put It into your mouth at all times; the pains of old age, death and miseries shall depart when you constantly sing Praises of the Lord.
“Har Amrit Naam bhojan nitt bhuncho sarab vela mukh pavho; jraa mraa taap sabh natha Gun Gobind nitt gavho.”
My Lord and Master has heard my prayer and all my affairs have been resolved; the Glory of Guru Nanak has become manifest throughout the ages.
“Sunni ardas Suami merey sarab kalaa bann ayee; pargat bheyi sagley jug antar Gur Nanak ki vadiaiyee.”
Bhai Manjeet Ji further adds on 7th September, 2024:
The translation says “after taking your cleansing bath, remember your God in meditation….”
When you mediate upon God, within yourself, that meditation is your cleansing bath as in “antargat tirath malh naao” (Japji Sahib).
Thus, with respect a more accurate translation would be “Mediate upon God within yourself (simar Prabh apna), cleanse yourself by such loving remembrance (kar ishnaan), and your mind and body shall be free of disease. (mann tann bhaye aroga).
Everything revolves around Naam in the Guru’s Sharan, and loving remembrance of God within yourself.
Once this is set in motion, the Guru gently leads you to removal of ego, burning of karmic bondages, detachment from maya, sewa, Union and Darshan with Gur Parsad.
