Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.9
Guru Ji warns man to be vary of committing sins. Man is achet i.e. ignorant of His Hukam, and does terrible acts which bring punishment and tie him in bondage.
Ignorant mortal, be careful, do not do sinful acts; (instead), seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, Merciful to the lowly, Destroyer of all fear.
“Nar achet paap te darr re; Deen Dyaal saggal bhey bhanjan Sharan tahe tum par re.” (rahao)
Some scholars give the bisraam as
“Nar, achett paap te darr re” i.e. be wary of committing sins you did not even think about. Since Bani is agadh bodh, Infinite and Profound, we cannot say such an interpretation is wrong.
The Vedas and Puranas sing His Praises – enshrine His Name within your heart; the Lord’s Name is Pure and Sublime in this world. As you repeatedly remember Him in meditation, all sinful mistakes will be wiped out.
“Bedh Puran jaas gunn gaavat ta ko Naam hiye meh dhar re; paavan Naam jagat meh Har ko simar simar kasmal sabh har re.”
Make efforts to achieve liberation that you need not have to obtain a human body again (my translation is quite different from that on the net); Nanak says, sing Praises of the Compassionate Lord, cross the terrifying world ocean, and reach the other shore.
“Maanas deh bahur neh paave kachu upaao mukat ka kar re; Nanak kahat gaaye Karunameh bhav saagar ke paar utar re.”
