The last pada of Astpadhi 23, Sukhmani Sahib.
The Slok to Astpadhi 23 describes a Sikh who is blessed with enlightenment. The Guru gives him “gyan anjjan” and his darkness of ignorance is destroyed “agyan andher binaas”. There is bright illumination of the mind. “Nanak man pargass”.
In this final pada, Guru Ji tells us of the blessings a Sikh receives with enlightenment. One who knows the Lord obtains everlasting peace; the Lord blends him with Himself.
“Jo jaano tis sada sukh hoye; Aap milaye leye Prabh soye”
Such a Sikh is wealthy, prosperous and noble; he is liberated from all bondages while alive and God abides in his heart.
“Oh dhanvant kulwant patwant; jivan mukat jis riday Bhagvant”
Blessed blessed blessed is the birth of that humble being; by whose grace the whole world can be saved.
“Dhan dhan dhan jan aaya; jis parsad sabh jagat taraeya”
This is the purpose of his life; In his company one gets inspired to remember the Lord’s Name.
“Jan aavan ka eihe suaao; jan ke sang chit aave Naao”
Such a Sikh is liberated and can liberate the Universe; Nanak bows forever in reverence to such a humble servant of the Lord.
“Aap mukat mukat kare sansaar; Nanak tis jan ko sada namaskaar”
