Raag Gauree (Gauri) Kabir Ji.

Bhagat Ji speaks lovingly to God. It is a Shabad of total surrender and allegiance to God.

God, Your Name is my Support just as the water provides sustenance to the flower.

“Naam Tera adhaar mera jio phool jehi hai naar”.

Lord, Kabir is the slave in Your Home. I live or die as You Wish.

“Kahe Kabir ghulam ghar ka jiaaye bhave maar”

The Shabad starts with a declaration of total acceptance of God’s Will.

“Furmaan Tera siray upar firr na karat bichaar”

You are my River (of life), my Boatman, and Salvation comes from You.

“Tuhi dariya Tuhi kariya tujhe te nistaar”

Bhagat advices all mortals in the rahao.

O humans engage in meditation upon the Lord; no matter that the Master shows anger or love towards you.

“Bande bandgi eiktiyaar; Sahib ros dharo ke pyaar” (rahao)

Bhai Ji added on November 2nd, 2024:

In the Punjabi language, “Banda” means slave.
“Bandgi,” therefore means slavery. In the context of Gurbani, bandgi means single minded devotion to One, to the exclusion of all others.

In this Shabad, Bhagat Kabir Ji says, O mortal, you must enshrine single minded, unwavering devotion to the Lord.
“Bande bandgi eiktiyar.”

Mindful of the fact, that in your devotion to God you might face terrible hardships, Bhagat says that your devotion must be of such a degree that it matters not whether the Lord treats you with anger or with love.
“Sahib roz dharo ke pyar.”

The Shabad starts with a solemn acceptance of God’s Hukam.
“Furmaan Tera sirhe upar firh na karat bichaar.”

I now realise You are the River, You are the Boatman, and Salvation comes only from You.
“Tuhi Dariya Tuhi Kariya Tughe Te Nistaar.”
