Raag Bilaaval (Bilawal) –  Bhagat Kabir Ji.

Bhagat Ji describes his experiences on the Spiritual Path. A Pandit told Bhagat Ji he was “bigriya hoya” i.e. spoilt and did not have any proper knowledge or understanding. Bhagat Ji replies, yes, in the eyes of the world I have been rendered quite insane. But what a wonderful insanity it is. I am happy being insane like this.

I do not read books for knowledge, nor do I understand all these debates; (all I know is), I have gone insane hearing and chanting the Glorious Praises of God.

“Bidiya na parho baad nahi jaano; Har gunn kathatt sunatt baurano.”

O wise man, I have gone insane; the whole world is sane and I am insane; I am spoiled, (if they so wish), let not others be spoiled like me.

“Mere baba mai baura sabh khalak sianee mai baura; mai bigriyo bigray matt auraa.” (rahao).

I have not made myself insane – the Lord made me insane; the True Guru (Shabad), has burnt away my doubts.

“Aap na baura Raam kiyo baura; Satgur jaar gheyo bhram mora.”

I am spoiled and have lost all my own understanding; (if you believe I am insane), let no one go astray in doubt like me.

“Mai bigrey apni matt khoyee; mere bharam bhulo matt koyee.”

Bhagat Ji then defines the meaning of baura.

He alone is insane who does not pander to his self conceit; when he recognizes the Divine origin of his inner self, then he knows the One Lord.
(my translation of these two lines is different from the net).

“So baura jo aap na pechaney; aap pechaney ta Ekay jaane.”

One who is not intoxicated with the Lord now (in this lifetime), shall never be intoxicated; Kabir says, I am in drenched with love for the All Pervading Lord.

“Abhay na mataa so kabho na mataa; kahe Kabir Rameh rang rataa.”
