Raag Assa – Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

Man gets so engrossed in worldliness that he forgets his stay here is for a short while only.

Bhagat Ji looks at man and says I see a puppet of clay prancing around.

“Matti ko putra kaisay nachat hai”

He looks and listens, hears and speaks, but is always on the move.

“Dekhay dekhay sunay bolay dauriyo firat hai” (Rahao)

When he acquires something he puffs up in ego.

“Jab kach paave garab karat hai”

When he loses his wealth, he howls and wails.

“Maya geyi tab rovan laggat hai”

In thought, word and deed he is attached to the sweet and tangy flavours of the world.

“Man bach karam rass kasseh lobhana”

When he dies no one knows where he has gone.

“Binnas gya jaye kahu samaana”

Ravidas Ji reminds that the world is a dramatic Play.

“Kahe Ravidas baji jag bhai”

I have enshrined love for the Divine Dramatist.

“Bajigar seyo mohe preet ban aayi”

The net translation of the last line
” I have enshrined love for the Lord the star of the show” does not seem right. Lord is correct, but star of the show seems rather out of place.
