Guru Ji gives Divine advice to all of us. This is how we should conduct ourselves. Guru Ji also looks at the entire World Play, and shares delightful Divine Insights with us.
You should have no fears about death nor entertain thoughts of a long life; you must think about God in these terms. You are the Cherisher of all beings, and you keep account of every breath and morsel of food. You abide in the gurmukhs and as it Pleases You, You decide our allotment.
“Marne ki chinta nahi jeevan ki nahi aas; Tu sarab jiaa pritpaalhi lekhay saas giraas; antar gurmukh Tu vassey jio bhave tio nirjaas.”
Instruct your soul thus: Chant the Name of the Lord and the mind will be appeased; the raging fires within you, will be extinguished, and as gurmukh (i.e. in the Sharan of the Guru), you shall receive enlightenment.
“Jiaarey Raam japat mann maan; antar laagi jall bujhi paaya gurmukh gyaan.” (rahao).
Meet with the Guru (Shabad) rid yourself of skepticism, and know the state of your inner being; you must conquer death while still alive, to reach that True Home after you die; reflect upon the Guru (Bani), and listen to the inner, beautiful, Unstruck Music of the Shabads.
“Antar ki gatt jaaniye Gur miliye sankk utaar; moeya jit ghar jaiiyeh titt jivdeiya mar maar; Anhad Shabad vajavney paiiyeh Gur vichaar.”
As the inner Unstruck Melody of Bani is obtained, your egotism gets eliminated; I am forever a sacrifice to those who serve the Satguru (Shabad); the Lord’s Name dwells on their lips, and they are dressed in robes of honor in the Lord’s Court.
“Anhad Bani paiiyeh te haumai hoye binaas; Satgur seveh apna hao sadh kurbaney taas; kharh Dargeh pehanaiyeh mukh Har Naam nivaas.”
Wherever I look I see the Lord pervading there in the union of Spirit (Jote), and matter; the three qualities (of maya), hold the body in bondage, and whoever comes to this world, is subject to it’s Play; those who get distanced from the Lord, suffer in misery, and the manmukhs attain no Union with Him.
“Jeh dekha teh rev rahe Shiv Shakti ka melh; tria gunn bandhi dehori jo aaya jag seyo khel; vijogi dukh vishrey manmukh laheh na melh.”
As the mind has love for God and detaches itself from the world, it comes to dwell in it’s True Home, coloured with the fear of God (fear of breach of His Hukam); then it enjoys the Essence of Supreme Wisdom, and shall never feel hunger again (for worldliness or anything else); Nanak says, subdue this mind and meet the Lord and you shall never feel pain again.
“Mann beragee ghar vassey Sach bhae rataa hoye; gyan maha rass bhogve bahurh dukh na hoye; Nanak eh mann maar milh bhi firr dukh na hoye.”
