Raag Suhi M.4.
Guru Ramdas Ji’s famous Asthpadhi about the state of bairaag. A yearning to meet the Beloved. Although it is called an Asthpadhi it has 32 padas.
Guru Ji starts with a declaration that if someone would lead me to meet my Beloved, I will sell myself to Him.
“Koi aan milavhe mera Pritam pyara hao tis pe aap vechayee.”
I long for the Lord’s Darshan; if the Lord in His Mercy leads me to meet the True Guru I would meditate upon the Name.
“Darshan Har dekhan ke tayee; kirpa kare ta Satgur meleh Har Har Naam dhiayee” (rahao).
In happiness I would adore You; in pain too, I would worship You; if You give me hunger, I would find satisfaction in that too; I would be joyful even in the midst of sorrow.
“Je sukh de ta Tujhe aradhi dukh bhi Tujhe dhiayee; je bhukh de ta eit hi rajaa dukh vich sukh manayee”
(To meet my Beloved, if need be), I would cut my body and mind apart in pieces, burn myself in a fire and offer them all to You.
“Tan man katt katt sabh arpee vich agnee aap jalaiyee”
I would engage in service to You. I would wave the fan over You and carry water for You; I would eat whatever You gave me.
“Pakha feri paani dhova jo devay so khayee”
Poor Nanak has fallen at Your Door; O Lord it is Your Greatness that I would ever be United with You.
“Nanak gareeb dheh bheya Duarey Har melh lehyo vadiaaye”

A Sikh yearns to Meet his Beloved Pritam. If anyone helps me to Unite I am happy to surrender all I have to Him.
“Koyee aan milave mera Pritam Pyara hao tis pe aap vechayi.”
I pine for His Darshan.
“Darshan Har dekhan ke tayi.”
In His Grace, I would Unite with the Satguru (Shabad) and lovingly meditate upon Him.
“Kirpa kare ta Satgur melhe Har Har Naam dhiayi.”
