SGGS Ang 91

Sri Raag Ki Vaar M.4.

Pauri no. 20

The Gurus Teaching is disarmingly simple.
If you want any work to be successfully done, address your Prayer to God.

“Kita lorhiye kamm so Har peh aakhiye.”

However, the Prayer/Ardas to God will only carry across, if you do so in the Guru’s Sharan, i.e. as a gurmukh, and you have the Blessings of the Guru.

“Karaj de sawaar Satgur Sach Sakhiye.”

As you do satsanggat, you will receive the Treasure of Amrit-Naam Blessings which will take you across the world ocean.

“Santa sang Nidhaan Amrit chakhiye.”

The Lord destroys all fears, is always Merciful, and Protects His humble servants

“Bhye Bhanjan Mehervaan daas ki Raakhiye.”

Nanak says, as you continuously Sing Praises of the Unseen (Formless – Nirankar), you can be blessed to actually have Darshan of God.

“Nanak Har Gunn gaaye Alakh Prabh Laakhiye.”

You will notice a Sikh’s Prayer is directly to SGGS Ji/God.

There is no mention that one should pray to Baba Deep Singh or shaheeds or some deceased or living Sant or baba to help you.

Sikhs revere and have profound respect for those martyrs who gave their lives in defending the Sikh Faith, but Sikhs do not pray to or invoke those martyrs. The Sikh Prayer is only to Guru Ji/God.
