SGGs Ang 791

Raag Suhi

The Ragi Ji (video available on YouTube) starts with Guru Angad Dev Ji’s Slok in which the jeev isteri says, all have some support or other. I am miserable and feel all alone. It is as well to die crying and pining for You if you do not come, dwell in my mind.

“Kis hi koyi koye manjh nimanee Eik Tu; Kyo na marijhe roye ja lagg chit na aavahee.” (Ang 791)

Then comes a plea for Naam. I have taken the Sanctuary of Your Charan Kamal, You are the Destroyer of pain; please bless Your slave with Naam; be Merciful to me Lord, give me Your Glance of Grace hold my arm and take me out this blind pit (of ignorance and bondages).

“Har Charan Sharan Gobind Dukh Bhanjana dass Apne ko Naam devho; Dhrist Prabh Dharo Kirpa Kar Taro Bhuja geh koop te kaadh levho.”  (Ang 683)

Then come two lines by Bhagat Sadhna Ji. A humble plea to be saved.
I am nothing, I have nothing, and nothing belongs to me; Now, please protect the honour of Your humble servant, Sadhna.

“Mai nahi kich hao nahi kich aahe na mora ; Ausar lajja rakh leho Sadhna jan Tora.” (Ang 858)

The 5th Shabad of Kirtan Sohila comes after these pleas. This Shabad speaks of His Grace, where life’s journey is fulfilled and the jeev is saved.

“Karo benanti sunho mere meeta Sant tehal ki bela ; eiha khaat chalo Har laaha aage bassan suhela.” (Ang 13)
