Raag Bhairo – Bhagat Namdev Ji.

Bhagat Ji speaks of those who do not do loving worship of Narayana.
Narayan is the Supreme Being, the Absolute Truth unsullied by the waters of maya. Bhagat Ji says I do not wish to even see them.

“Jo na bhajantay Narayana; tin ka mai na karo darshana” (rahao).

One who is in control of his passions and removes all thoughts of wealth belonging to others and does not covet wives of others, the Lord abides near that person.
Sikhism is not merely reciting Naam. The Gurus insist a Sikh should lead an honest life of high ethics and morals.

“Par dhan par dara parhari; ta ke nikat bassay Narhari”

Bhagat Ji further says if one is distanced from the Lord; such a person is nothing more than a beast.

“Ja ke bhitar hai antraa: jaise pas taise oh naraa.”

In Punjabi we have a saying “nakk vadiya jauu,” literally your nose will be cut i.e. you will be dishonored.

Bhagat Ji says a man distanced from God is like a person who has his nose cut, and is a dishonorable person. Such a person with his nose cut will never look handsome even if he has the 32 virtues.

“Pranvatt Namdeo nakhe bina: neh sohay batti sulakhna.”

Batti is thirty two in Punjabi. Sulakhan means virtues.

The 32 virtues include honesty, patience, humility, humor, wishing well of others etc. These virtues were supposedly revealed to Raja Vikramdatya by fairies about 56 years B.C.

Bhai Ji further elaborated on February 10, 2025:

You need intense, loving bhajan bandgi of God, before He blesses you with Darshan.

What distances you from God?
Haumai and maya.

Haumai and maya operate through the panj vikaar, kaam krodh lobh moh ahangkar.
These five will form a wedge and distance you from God.

Bhagat Ravidas Ji says at Angg 710,

“Ein panchan mera mann jo bighariyo; pal pal Har Ji te antar parioyo.”

(These five have corrupted my mind; moment by moment they lead me away from the Lord).

In this Shabad, Bhagat Namdev Ji says,
“Jin ke bhittar hai antraa; jaise pas taise oh naraa.”

Anyone who is distanced from the Lord (by these 5 vikaars) his existence is like that of a beast).

That wedge can only be removed by Naam and Guru Ji’s Grace.
