Raag Maroo, M.9.

As you constantly hum to yourself,

“Har Ko Naam Sada Sukhdayi,” slowly you will find Naam always brings blessings and peace. (is indeed sukhdayi).

In this Shabad, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji tells us God’s Name always brings blessings and peace.

“Har ko Naam sada sukhdayee.”

It was simran upon God’s Naam that saved Ajamal and emancipated Ganika the prostitute.

“Ja ko simar Ajamal udhrio Ganika hu gatt payee.” (Rahao).

We are used to the story of Krishan saving the honor of Draupati. (She was known as Panchali not because she had 5 husbands, but because she was the princess of Panchala. Her father was the ruler of Panchala).

Guru Ji tells us it was Ram Nam which saved Draupati, not Krishan. Krishan was merely an instrument of God’s Will who was physically seen as saving Draupati. It was the “karuna mai,” the Lord of Mercy who saved Draupati.

“Panchali ko raj sabha me Ram Naam sudh aayi”

“Ta ka dukh hareyo Karuna Mai apni paij badayee”

The Lord helps anyone who sings His Praises.

“Jeh nar jas kirpa nidh gaeyo ta ko bheyo sahayee.”

It is with this faith in mind that I have come to the Lord’s Sanctuary.

“Kaho Nanak mai ehi bharosey gahi aan sharnayee.”
