Raag Kanrah (Kanra) M.4

A Slok from Kanre Ki Vaar M.4.
Guru Ramdas Ji tells us of the blessings which flow from Naam, as you continuously recite it. In the beginning, it is rather mechanical and done as a daily discipline. Slowly, (the Gurus say “sahaj subhai”), love for Naam develops. There comes a stage where He blesses you with Naam (Attributes, Godliness).

The Name of the Lord is the greatest Treasure. The gurmukhs  i.e. those who take the Sharan of the Satguru, and live their lives guided by gurmatt) obtain it.

“Har Har Naam nidhaan hai gurmukh paaya jaaiye.”

The True Guru (Shabad) meets (i.e. in their suratt – their consciousness), those who have such destiny written on their foreheads (i.e. these gurmukhs had done kamaaiye of Naam, and the Lord inscribed upon their foreheads, that they shall one day Unite with the Satguru – Shabad.
“Suratt Shabad bhav saagar tarihye Nanak Naam vakhaney.” (Ang 938).

“Jinn dhur mastakk likhiya tinn Satgur miliya aaye.”

Their bodies and minds are cooled and soothed, and tranquility comes to dwell in their minds.

“Tann mann sheetal hoya shaant vasee mann aaye.”

Nanak says, chanting the Name of the Lord, all poverty and pain is dispelled.

“Nanak Har Har chaudeyian (it is a Sindhi word which means “to recite”) sabh daladh dukh leh jaaye.”
