Raag Sri Raag M.1

A long Shabad with 24 padas. This the first five padas.

It is a Divinely delightful Shabad where Guru Ji speaks to God.

I am devoted, grateful, dedicated, a sacrifice to Your Name.

“Hao vari hao varney kurban Tere Naao nu.”

The word jogi means united one. Guru Ji says amongst all jogis (who say they are united), You are the Truly United One; among all those seeking relish You are the Real Relisher; no one in the heavens, the waters, nor the nether worlds has ever found Your Limits.

“Jogi andar Jogiya; Tu bhogi andar Bhogiya; Tera antt na payaa surg mach pyall Jio.”

You created this world; and put each to their various tasks; You watch over all Your Creation and through Your Potency in all nature, You cast the dice (cause them to act).

“Tudh sansar upayaa; sirey sirr dhandey layaa; vekhay kita Apnaa kar Kudrat pasaa dhaal Jio.”

You are manifest in the Expanse of Your Workshop; all yearn for Your Name; without the Satguru, no one ever finds You. All are enticed and trapped by the net of maya.

“Pargat Paharey jaapda; sabh Naave nu partaapda; Satgur baaj na paiyho sabh mohee maya jaal Jio.”

I am grateful to the Satguru; meeting Him the Supreme Status is obtained; the angels, the muni rishis, the humble ones all long for Him. The Satguru has bestowed this understanding upon me.

“Satguru ko balh jaiyeh; jit miliye Param gatt paiyeh; sur nar mun jan lochday so Satguru diya bujhaiye Jio.”

What is the definition of Satsangat?; where the Name of the One Lord is recited; it is His Hukam that only His One Name should be recited. Nanak says, the Satguru has blessed me with this understanding.

“Satsangat kaisee jaaniye; jithey Eko Naam vakhaaniye; Eko Naam Hukam hai Nanak Satgur diya bujhaiye Jio.”
