SGGS Angg 763.
Raag Suhi M.5.
At Angg 762, Guru Nanak Dev Ji has the famous Shabad
“Kuchagi” i.e. the uncultured, unchaste, jeev isteri who has gone astray. She suffers terribly. She wails in despair.
“soena rupa rangla moti te maanak ji; se vastu Seh ditiyan mai tin seyo laya chit jio.”
Guru Ji’s next Shabad is “Suchaji,” a jeev isteri aware of her human chance to meet the Lord. She accepts His Bhana and she ends the Shabad fully aware that only the Guru’s Shabad can lead her to God.
“Gur Shabdi Saho paaya Sach Nanak ki ardas Jio.”
After these two Shabads by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Arjun Dev Ji has one Shabad “Gunvanti.” It speaks of a jeev isteri who has been blessed with gunn by the Guru’s Shabads. She shares her experiences of being in the Guru’s Sharan.
This is about Gunvanti.
The jeev isteri says she humbly falls at the feet of anyone who appears to be a Gursikh; I tell them of my inner pangs, and plead to be United with my Guru Friend (Shabad).
“Jo dissay Gursikhra tis niv niv laago paiye jio; aakhan birtha jee ki Gur Sajjan deh milaiye jio.”
She pleads further.
I ask that He imparts such understanding to me that my mind does not go wandering anywhere else; I dedicate my mind to You, please show me the Path to God.
“Soyee dass updesrha mera mann annt na kahu jaaye jio; eh mann teh ku devsa mai marag deho bataye jio.”
I have come from so far, seeking the Protection of Your Sanctuary; I harbor these hopes in my heart, that You will remove all my suffering.
“Hao aaya durho chalh ke mai taki tao Sharnaye jio; mai aasa rakhi chit me mera sabho dukh gavaiye jio.”
The Sikh replies.
Whatever the Guru (Shabad) says, follow that Path and act according to His Teachings; abandon all the cleverness of your mind, and remove the love for duality (maya).
“Eit marag chale bhairhey Gur kahe so kaar kamaaye jio; tyage mann ki matree visarey dujja bhao jio.”
In this way you can get His Vision and no hot wind will ever scorch you; I myself do not say anything on my own. I speak as I am Commanded by Him.
“Eio pavhe Har Darsavrha neh lagge tatti vao jio; hao appo bolh na jaanda mai kehya sabh Hukmao jio.”
As she receives Gur Parsad she says.
I have been blessed with devotional worship of the Lord. Guru Nanak has given me this blessing; I shall never feel hunger or thirst again. I feel satisfied and fulfilled; anyone who appears to the Guru’s Eyes as a Sikh, I humbly fall at his feet.
“Har bhagat khazana bakshiya Gur Nanak kiya pasao jio; mai bahurh na trisna bhukri hao rajja tripat aghaaye jio; jo Gur dissay Sikhra tis niv niv laaga paaiye
