Raag Dhanaasree

We make so much effort to be blessed with Naam.

And when we actually get blessed with Naam what do you experience? Guru Arjun Dev tells us in this amazing Shabad from Raag Dhanasree – Angg 671.

Naam is given in His kirpa. As you receive Naam, you are freed from all karmic bondages.

“Kar kirpa diyo mohe Nama bandhan te chutkave”

You no longer engage in “dhanda” (worldly pursuits), your focus is only on the Lord’s Charan (Bani).

“Man te bisriyo saglo dhanda Gur ki Charni laaye.”

As you do more and more sadh sanggat, apart from Bani, you lose interest in other things.

“Sadh sanggat chintt biranee chadee”

It is as if you have dug a deep pit and buried all your egotistical pride, emotional attachments and desires of the mind.

“Ahumbudh moh mann baasan de kar gadhaa gadhee” (rahao).

Now, no one is my enemy and no one has enmity against me; God, who has spread His Infinite Expanse is within all; I learned this from the True Guru.

“Na ko mera dusham rehiya na ham kis ke berraiye; Brahm pasarr pasareyo bhitar Satgur te sojee payee”

Now, I am a friend to all; I am friendly with all; as my sense of separation (birha) was removed from my mind, my Lord, the King united me with Himself.

Sabh ko meet ham aapan keena ham sabna ke saajan; Duur prayo mere man ka birha ta melh kiyo mere Raajan”

My stubborn bent is gone, Amrit rains within me and the Shabad of the Guru seems so sweet to me; Nanak has been blessed to behold the Lord who pervades all, and the waters, earth and skies.

“Binseyo dheetha amrit vutha Shabad laggo Gur meetha; jal thall mahiyal sarab nivasee Nanak Rameiya ditha”
