Bannat Bannaiye
Never-before-seen footage from the recordings of Titanic movie (now available on YouTube). From the world of Hollywood cinema and motion capture studios, they show us how these films were made, translating us to moments that marked history, here scenes from the movie Titanic.
The clip, shows footage of recordings of the Titanic Movie.
The Titanic was a huge ship which sank on 15th April 1912. It had set out from Southampton with 2200 passengers. 1500 lost their lives as the ship hit an iceberg, causing a huge cavity, and water poured in from the sea into the ship.
Although there are numerous ways of looking at the clip from the Gurbani viewpoint, I shall confine Gurbani views to two aspects.
1.Ships
2.”Bannat Bannaiye.”
Bhagat Kabir Ji says this body is a ship. If it is old and contains many holes (chiddar in Gurbani), it is bound to sink. Those who carry a light load (of karmas) get carried across with Gur Parsad, while those whose heads are weighed down by sinful conduct, are sure to drown.
“Kabir berha jarjra futte shek hazar; harue harue tir gaye dubbe jin sirr paar.”(Ang 1366).
As we move about in the world ocean, we must not be so proud nor should we laugh at the poor; your boat is still at sea, who knows what can happen to it?
“Kabir garab na kijiye rankk na hassiye koye; ajho so naoo samundar me kya jaano kya hoye.” (Ang 1366).
In a stirring Shabad at Angg 17, Guru Nanak Dev Ji says, the Guru (Shabad) is the Ladder (to elevate your avastha), the Guru is the Boat, the Raft of God’s Name.
“Gur Pauri Berhi Guru Gur Tulha Har Naao.”
More than that, the Guru (Shabad) is the Boatman, in the world ocean, the Guru is the Sacred Place of Pilgrimage, and the Holy River.
“Gur Sar Sagar Bohitho Gur Tirath Dariayo.”
If it Pleases Him, I purify myself in the Pool of Truth, and become Radiant and Pure.
“Je Tis Bhave Ujlee Sar Sar Naavan Jao.”
In Maru M.1, Guru Ji says the ferryman cries out at the pier, O travelers, hurry and rush to get across.
“Pattan kukke paatni vanjho dhrok villarh.”
At this harbor, I have seen only the Guru is the Able Boatman, who can ferry you across.
“Paar pavendhre dith mai Satgur Bohith Chaarh.”
As for Bannat Bannaiye it means setting up a set of circumstances which leads to a particular result.
In the clip, the scenes show how the story of the movie Titanic was made. All these scenes are part of the bannatt bannaiye leading up to the final movie shown on screens.
In Gurbani, the Guru evaluates His Sikh. In his present avastha, he cannot make it across. I will bless My Sikh with some sewa using which My Sikh can rise spiritually. The sewa the Sikh does for many years is the bannat bannaiye. One should be always grateful to the Guru for the sewa which is the bannat bannaiye.
At Angg 587,
“Tis Gur ko sadh baliharne jin Har sewa bannat bannaiye.”
After a strenuous period when your matters have been resolved, the Guru reminds. I was the One who made you go through your difficulties. That was the bannat bannaiye for you.
There was lots of slander, and obstacles. The Guru created circumstances by which the Sikh could overcome these difficulties and come out unscathed.
Angg 629.
“Nanak Prabh Sukhdayi; Jin Puri Bannat Bannaiye.”
