Raag Assa (Asa) M.5
A Sikh talks to God in humility. Please protect me. The world is full of treachery and poison.
The Sikh says I have faith in You. Since You are my Lord and Master I fear no one; why should I ever praise anyone else besides You?; You are One and only. All things exist because of You; Besides You nothing else matters to me.
“Ja Tu Sahib ta bhao keha hao Tudh bin kis salahee; Ek Tu ta sabh kich hai mai Tudh bin dujja nahi.”
Father, I have seen that the world is poisonous; Save me O Lord of the Universe, Your Name is my only Support.
“Baba bikh dekhya sansaar; rakhiya karo Gosain mere mai Naam Tera adhaar.” (rahao).
You know the inner condition of every mind; why should I go elsewhere to pour out my problems?; without Naam the whole world has gone crazy; only when one receives Naam does one get peace.
“Jaane birtha sabha mann ki horh kis pe aakh sunaaiyeh; vin Naave sabh jagh bauraieya Naam miley sukh paaiyeh.”
What shall I say?; who would listen to me?; whatever I want to say, I say to the Lord; everything which exists was created by You; You are my hope forever and ever.
“Kya kahiye kis aakh sunaaiyeh je kehna so Prabh Jee paas; sabh kich kitta Tera vartey sada sada Teri aas.”
If I am given any greatness, it is really Your Greatness; here and hereafter my prayer is to You; the Lord of Nanak is forever the Giver of Peace; Your Name is my only Strength.
“Je deh vadiaaiyee ta Teri vadiaaiyee eit utt Tujhe dhiaavho; Nanak ke Prabh sada Sukhdatey mai taan Tera Eik Naao.”
Bhai Ji further elaborated on December 13, 2024:
The world is not an easy place to live in.
Some faint hearted ones even commit suicide. Most steel themselves to face the harshness of the world.
There are always persons who will hurt you, deceive you, cause damage and loss in various ways.
In Gurbani, the poisonous and hurtful ways of the world are referred to as “bikh.”
You will encounter bikh at the office. There will be some colleagues who will always find fault with your work.
While travelling to work in a bus, you will meet rude persons, unmindful of the fact that they are causing distress to fellow passengers.
You meet bikh at supermarkets, snatching trolleys, cutting queues, using foul language.
We cannot avoid bikh. Only Naam can give us true resilience to face the world with an inner dignity and self confidence.
In this Shabad, a Sikh pleads, Father, I have seen the poison of the world.
“Baba bikh dekhiya sansar.”
Lord, please save me, Your Naam is my Only Support.
“Rakhiya karho Gusain mere mai Naam Tera Aadhar.”
