SGGS Angg 1113.
Raag Tukhari M.4.
This Shantt has 4 padas. This is the 1st pada. It expresses deep yearning for Union and Darshan.
The jeev isteri says I have love for Him, how can I live without Him?
“Antar Piri pyar kyo Pir bin jiviye Ram.”
It is only with His blessed Darshan that I will truly drink in Amrit Naam (which will make me eternal).
“Jab lagg daras na hoye kyo amrit piviye’ Ram.”
The desire for Darshan has reached fever pitch. I cannot survive without Him.
“Kyo amrit piviye Har bin jiviye tis bin rehan na jaaiye.”
It is not as if I do not pray. I call His Name lovingly day and night. Without Him my inner thirst is not quenched.
“Andin Prio Prio kare din rati Pir bin pyaas na jaaye.”
The final two lines stress that the union can only happen through the Guru’s Shabad and His Grace.
“Apni kirpa karo Har pyare Har Har Naam sad sareaya;
Gur ke Shabad miliya mai Pritam hao Satgur vitho vaariaya.”
Almost every Shabad in Gurbani tells us about Darshan. He is Formless. Nirankar. Yet, when He is pleased with You, He gives His Darshan. This Darshan is internal at first. He is Infinite and can give Darshan in any manner He chooses. Invariably, you will see Him (His Jote) everywhere.
“Jeh jeh pekho teh hadoor duur katho na jaaiye” (Ang 677).
