SGGS Angg 1358.
Slok no 52, Slok Sehskritee (Sahaskriti) M.5.
The Slok tells us about God’s Protective Nature.
Although different Names of God are used, they all refer to the Attributes of One Nirankar Ji as have become manifested over the ages.
The Supreme Lord God has protected my head and forehead; the Sovereign Lord has protected my hands and body.
“Sirr mastakk rakhya Parbrahm hastt kaiyan rakhya Parmeshvareh.”
God, my Lord and Master has saved my soul, the Lord of the Universe has saved my wealth and feet.
“Aatam rakhya Gopal Suami dhan charan rakhya Jagdisvareh.”
The Merciful Guru has protected everything, and destroyed my fear and suffering.
“Sarab rakhya Gur Dyaleh bhay dukh binasneh.”
Nanak has taken the Sanctuary of the Imperishable Lord, who loves His Saints, and is Master of the masterless (orphans).
“Bhagat vashall anath Nathe Sharan Nanak Purakh Achuteh.”
Eleven Attributes/Naam of God are described.
What is protected by the Guru/God is,
the head, forehead, hands, body, soul, wealth and feet i.e. everything.
What is destroyed is fear and suffering.
Who is saved? The Saints and the anath, those who have no one else to care for them.
Amazing Slok. It is nice to memorise Shabads. Memorising and reflecting upon a Slok like this makes you absorbed in the many Attributes of God, and makes you realise how complete and perfect is the Lord’s Protection.
