“Dubida duur karo liv laaye”
Dubida is a terrible obstacle to merger. It is a composite of “do” (two) and “bidhiyan” (methods).
There is only one path to merger – Naam. When you are in dubida you rely on maya, your contacts, your possessions, and cleverness.
You have to rely only on Naam as “sacha Naam mera adharo,” nothing else. Use maya in your daily life by all means but your adhaar, your reliance must be only on Naam.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji says dubida has ruined countless homes.
“Ein dubida ghar bahute gaalay” (Ang 1028).
Guru Ji starts here by addressing His Sikhs. Gather together in satsangat: get rid of all dubida and attach your liv to God.
“Hoi eikatar milho mere bhai dubida duur karo liv laaye”
Be enjoined in the common quest of His Name. Spread out your mats and sit down (in prayer).
“Har Naame ke hovo jodi gurmukh besso safaa vishaiye”
The Shabad tells us about the daily life and conduct of an ideal Sikh.
In the game of Indian chess, (unlike other chess games), a dice is used to move the various pieces. The dice is called “passa,” because it has six sides to it.
Guru Ji tells us this is the right way to throw the dice O brothers; be a gurmukh (i.e. for a start take the Sharan of a Satguru), chant the Name of the Lord, day and night; In this way, you will be spared from pain in your final moments.
“Ein bidh passa dhalo birh; gurmukh Naam japho din rati antt kaal na lagge pirh.” (rahao).
The chessboard is known as “chauparh” i.e. having four sides and the pieces are known as “sari.” When the chess pieces are in the middle of the board, (called kachi sari), they can be eaten. Once a piece reaches the sides (shore), it is safe, and cannot be eaten anymore. This is called a pakki sari, a safe piece.
Raag Majh M. 3. At Angg 113, Guru Ji says God Himself places and observes the various pieces.
“Aape dhar dekhay kachi paki sari.”
Here, Guru Ji says, let your good actions and faith be your gameboard, and act to make your pieces True. (safe).
Conquer lust, anger, greed and worldly attachment; only such a game as this is dear to the Lord.
“Karam dharam tum chauparh sajho sat karo tum sari; kaam krodh lobh moh jitho aisee khel Har pyaree.”
Rise in the early hours of the morning, and take your cleansing bath (with Naam), and worship the Lord as you retire to sleep; (assure yourself thus), my True Guru will assist me even in the most difficult moves and I shall reach my true home in Celestial Peace.
“Uth isnaan karo parbhatey soye Har aradhey; bikhdey daoo langavhey mera Satgur sukh sahaj seti ghar jatey.”
Guru Ji tells us that the entire Play is conducted by God. He Himself created all creation, and He Himself Plays and Observes all.
“Har Aape Khelay Aape Dekhay Har Aape rachan rachaeyaa.”
Servant Nanak says, that person who as gurmukh plays this game (of human life), returns victorious to his True Home.
“Jan Nanak gurmukh jo nar khelay so jinh bajji ghar aayaa.”
