Guru Ji describes a Sikh who goes hunting. The hunt is really within the body. The only weapon the Sikh hunter has is Naam.
In the ordinary course of events, I managed to tie the ten deers (5 gyan indre and 5 karam indre); with the Lord’s Bani I shot (pierced) the 5 deers of evil desire (kaam, krodh , lobh, moh, ahangkar).
“Das mirgee sahaje bandh aani; panch mirg bedhay Shiv ki Bani.”
I went out hunting with the Saints (Sadhsanggat – Bani); the deers were captured without the need for horses or any weapons.
“Santsang le chadiyo shikaar; mrig pakdey bin ghor hathiyar.” (rahao).
My mind (birtt i.e. my birtee) used to wander around outside; now the chase (hunt), takes place within my body village.
“Akher birtt bahar aayo dhaaye; ahera paayo ghar ke gaaiye.”
All the deers were caught and brought home; they were divided bit by bit amongst the hunters.
“Mrig pakde ghar aane haat; chukh chukh le gaye bandhe baat.”
The Sikh says he too received his share of the hunt. As for his part, he was given Naam.
“Eh ahera kinno daan; Nanak ke ghar keval Naam.”
