Raag Ramkali – Pauri no 10, Ramkali Ki Vaar M.5
Guru Ji tells us of the Sovereignty of God. He cannot be accessed or controlled by any method or device. He responds only to Naam, humility, and sincere love. The pauri is a polite, direct address to God.
No one can bring You under control though he may greatly despise the world. (Some feel the way to detachment is to despise the world, and such detachment will please the Lord); no one can bring You under his sway by getting the Vedas read.
“Na Tu aave vass bahut ghinavne; na Tu aave vass bedh parhaavne.”
You cannot be brought under control by bathing at places of pilgrimage; nor can You come under control by wandering all over the world.
“Na Tu aave vass tirath naaiyeh; na Tu aave vass dharti dhaiiyeh.”
You cannot be brought under control by clever tricks; nor can You be controlled by giving huge donations to charities.
“Na Tu aave vass kitay siaanpeh; na Tu aave vass bahuta daan deh.”
All are under Your control, O Inaccessible, Unfathomable Lord; Blessing Your Saints with Your Own Power, You allow Your Saints to lovingly captivate You.
“Sabh ko Tere vass Aggam Agochra; Tu bhagta ke vass bhagta taan Tera.”
(My translation of the last line differs from the translation on the net. No true Saint would have the audacity to say or even think, God is under his control).
