Raag Suhi M.5

A Sikh sings adoringly of God. He is overwhelmed by God’s Greatness, and expresses his awe and wonder about God’s Glory.

You are my Life, the Support of my every breath; gazing upon You, beholding You, I am soothed and comforted.

“Tu jeevan Tu pran adharaa; Tujh hi pekh pekh mann sadharaa.”

You are my Friend, my Beloved; I shall never forget You.

“Tu Saajan Tu Pritam mera; chithe na bisray kahu bera.” (rahao).

I am Your indentured servant, Your slave; You are my Great Lord and Master, the Treasure of Excellences.

“Be khareed hao dasro Tera; Tu Bharo Thakur Guni Gahera.”

There are millions of servants in Your Royal Court; Each and every instant You dwell with them.

“Kot dass ja ke Darbarey; nimakh nimakh vassey tin naaley.”

I am nothing; everything is Yours; You are woven warp and woof into Nanak’s very fibre.

“Hao kich nahi sabh kich Tera; Ote Pote Nanak sang baseraa.”

Bhai Ji further elaborated on September 17, 2024:

As can be seen in Gurbani, the Gurus and Bhagats have a loving relationship with God. They adore Him. They speak to Him as Hazar Nazar- Ever Present, and address Him as “Tu”. It is an expression of their closeness to Him.

He is their Saajan (Friend) and their Beloved (Pritam). The relationship is very personal (mera) as they realise He resides within them.

His constant remembrance (simran) is their True Support and they pray they will never ever forget Him.
“Chithe na bissre kahu bera.”

He is their very life, and the Support of their breaths.
“Tu Jeevan Tu Pran Adhara.”

Continually gazing upon Him, they feel comforted and soothed.
“Tujh hi pekh pekh mann sadhara. ”

We should all strive for this avastha with Shabad (Naam), and the Guru’s Grace.
