Raag Dhanaasree M.4.
In the Hindu Scriptures there is great emphasis on physical aspects of creation. When it comes to getting your wishes fulfilled it is invariably from a physical form.
The Scriptures speak of kamdhenu, – a wish fulfilling cow. Chintamani, – a wish fulfilling jewel,
Parijat,- a wish fulfilling tree.
Gurbani tells us all Gifts come from Nirankar – the Formless One who is pervading every pore of the Universe.
“Nirankar jo rahe samaaye; kahe bhikhiya manggan jaaye.” (Ang 953).
Thus in this Shabad, Guru Ji says the Lord fulfills all wishes and the kamdhenu cow is also within His Power; it is to such a Lord (not to kamdhenu), that you address your prayers. Then, my mind, you shall obtain all peace.
“Isha Purak Sarab Sukhdata ja ke vass hai kamdhena; so aisa Har dhiaayeh mere jiaarehe ta sarab sukh paave mere manaa.”
Chant the True Name, always the True (Eternal, Pure) Name; as you continually meditate upon the Immaculate Lord, your face shall be radiant, here and hereafter.
“Jap mann Sat Naam sada Sat Naam; halat palat mukh ujjal hoyi hai nit dhiaaiyeh Har Purakh Niranjanaa.” (rahao).
Wherever one remembers the Lord, disasters are eradicated. It is by great fortune that one meditates upon the Lord; the Lord has blessed Nanak with this understanding, that by reciting His Name one crosses over the terrifying world ocean.
“Jeh Har simran bheya teh upaadh gatt kinni vadhbhagee Har japnaa; jann Nanak ko Gur eh matt dinee jap Har bhavjal tarnaa.”
