SGGS Angg 655.

Raag Sorath – Bhagat Kabir Ji.

Bhagat Ji speaks about what He sees in all Creation. To the Bhagat’s eyes, He only sees God everywhere.

Gurbani stresses He is Eik. In fact SGGS Ji, starts with the figure 1. At the end of Raagmala, we find the final figure 1 too.

In Gurbani, we often come across the word “doye.”

Besides being reference to “two,” it is also a reference to maya,
which is “doye” as opposed to Eik i.e. the One Lord.

In this Shabad, if we read closely, Bhagat Ji is saying with my two eyes I see the Play of maya. In the entire Play that I see – I see only the Lord.

So the bisraam would be “doye”, i.e. maya, “doye lochan” with my two eyes I see, “pekha.” It is pekha, not dekhan. Pekha means Play as in the line “aiso eh sansar pekhna” (Ang 855 – the world is a Stage Play).

Bhagat Ji says, with these two eyes I see the world drama of maya; in this Play I see nothing, but the Lord.

“Doye, doye lochan, pekha; hao Har bin aur na dekha.”

My eyes gaze lovingly upon Him; I am wonderstruck and cannot say anything.

“Nain rahe rang layee; ab be galh kahan na jayee.”

My misconceptions (delusions) were removed and my fears ran away; when I enshrined love for the Lord’s Name in my heart.

“Hamra bhram gaya bhao bhaaga; jab Ram Naam chit laaga.” (rahao).

When the Magician beats His Tambourine (Sound – the Mystical Eko Kavaoo); everyone appears at the Play.

“Bajigar Dank Bajayee; sabh khalak (Creation) Tamashe ayee.”

When the Magician winds up His Show; then He revels in Ecstacy Alone. (“Khel sankoche tao Nanak Ekay.” – Ang 291 Sukhmani Sahib).

“Bajigar swang sakela; Apne rang raveh Akela.”

By mere sermons doubts are not dispelled; the world exhausts itself by preaching and sermonising.

“Kathnee keh bharam na jayee; sabh kath kath rahee lokayee.”

When the Lord Himself gives enlightenment to the gurmukh; then He permeates in his (the gurmukh’s) heart.

“Ja ko gurmukh Aap bujhayee; ta ke hirday rehiya samayee.”

When the Guru grants even a bit of His Grace; one’s body, mind and entire being are absorbed into the Lord.

“Gur kinchat kirpa kinee; sabh mann tann deh Har linee.”

Kabir says, I am drenched with the Lord’s Love; the Great Giver, the Life of the world has met me.

“Kahe Kabir rang rataa; miliyo Jagjivan Dataa.”

Bhai Ji added on August 8, 2024:

As you lovingly centre your focus on the Naam of the All Pervading Lord; all your doubts and fears are wiped away.
“Hamra bhram gya bhao bhaaga; Jab Raam Naam chit laaga.”
