In the physical world, there are many kinds of love. Love between mother and child, siblings, friends. It may be sincere love, but Gurbani says such love is jhutha or kurh, because it is not everlasting. At the most, such love will last till the lifetime of the loved one. Such love does not go with you after death.
In fact, Gurbani says as one indulges in physical love with another, you will invariably forget the Lord. Thus, Guru Nanak Dev Ji says in Asa Ki Vaar,

“Kurh kurhe neho lagga visriya Kartar; kis naal kijje dosti sabh jag challanhar.”(Angg 468).

The only everlasting true love is for God. It will abide with you here, and hereafter.

In this Shabad, Guru Ji Advises, one should enshrine Love for God.

“Re mann Raam seyo kar preet.”

Guru Ji advises all Sikhs to develop love for the All Pervading Lord.

Guru Ji addresses the mind first, and tells it to Love the Lord. He then tells us to use the ears to listen, and the tongue to sing His Praises.

“Re mann Ram seyo kar preet; sarvan Gobind gunn sunho aur gavho rasnaa geet.” (rahao).

Join sadhsanggat, mediatate on the Lord, and sinners shall be purified.

“Kar Sadhsanggat simar Madho hoye patit puneet.”

My friend, merciless Death is on the prowl, with its mouth wide open.

“Kaal byall jio pario doleh mukh pasarey meet.”

Let this understanding be enshrined in your heart, that today or tomorrow, eventually, it will seize you.

“Aaj kaal funh toye gras hai samaj rakho cheet.”

Nanak says, meditate upon the Lord, your life is ebbing away.

“Kahe Nanak Ram bhaj le jaat ausar beet.”
