Raag Gauree

Gauri Ki Vaar M.4 has 33 pauris. This is the 2nd Slok before pauri 14 of the Vaar.

This Slok is by Guru Ramdas Ji. Guru Ji speaks about Gurgaddi and Gurbani. Guru Ji stresses that it is God’s Will that a Satguru sits on Gurgaddi. And, it is God’s Divine Bani which is expressed from the mouth of the Satguru.

The Slok starts by Guru Ji stating that it is God Himself who bestows glorious greatness (upon the Satguru), and causes the world to fall at their feet.

“Jin ko Aap de vadiaaiye jagat bhi Aape aan tin ko pairi paaiye”

One should only be afraid if he does things selfishly by himself. It is the Lord who is increasingly manifesting His Power in this Play.

“Darriaye ta je kich aap du kiche sabh Karta Apni kalaa vadaaiye”

Behold all, this is the Arena of the Beloved Lord. His Power brings everyone to bow in humility.

“Dekho bhai eh akhada Har Pritam Sache ka jin Apne jorh sabh aan nivaaiye”

The Lord and Master protects His Saints. He blackens the face of the slanderers and evil doers.

“Apniya Bhagta ki rakh kare Har Suami nindaka dushta ke moh kaley karaiye”

The glory and greatness of the Satguru increases day by day. The Lord Himself inspires His Saints to continually sing His Praises.

“Satgur ki vadiaaiye nit chade sawaiiye Har Kirat Bhagat nit Aap karaaiye”

O Gursikhs chant the Name of the Lord night and day; through the Satguru, the Creator Lord will come to dwell in the home of your inner being.

“Andin Naam japho Gursikho Har Karta Satgur ghari vassaiye.”

A very important aspect is Gurbani. It is essential for a Gursikh to have full faith in Gurbani as eternally True. Thus Guru Ji says, O Gursikhs know that the Bani of the Satguru is True (Perfect, Pure, Eternal), absolutely True. The Lord Himself expresses this Bani from the blessed mouth of the Satguru.

“Satgur ki Bani Sat Sat kar jaano Gursikho Har Karta Aap muho kadaaiye”

The Beloved Lord makes the faces of the Gursikhs radiant. He makes the whole world acclaim and applaud the Satguru.

“Gursikha ke muh ujley kare Har Pyara Gur ka jaikaar sansar sabatt karaaiye”

Servant Nanak is the Slave of the Lord; the Lord Himself preserves the honour of His Slave.

“Jan Nanak Har ka Dass hai Har Dassan ki Har paij rakhaiiye”
