Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.9

Guru Ji tells us about man’s obsession with worldly things and relationships. All these lead him to sorrow.

The mortal does not think of singing Praises of the Lord; night and day he is engrossed in maya – pray tell me how can he sing Glories of the Lord?.

“Pranee ko Har jass mann nahi aave; ahiniss maggan rahe maya me kaho kaisey Gunn gavhe.” (rahao).

In this way he binds himself to children, friends, and gets attached to maya; like the deer’s delusion (it thinks there is water there, but it turns out to be a mirage), this world is false (perishable), and yet, beholding it, they chase after it (maya).

“Poot meet maya mamta sio eh bidh aap bandhave; mrig trishna jio jhutho eh jag dekh taas uthh dhaave.”

The Lord is the Master of all revelments and liberation, yet the fool forgets Him; servant Nanak says, among millions a rare one receives Naam.

“Bhugat mukat ka kaaran Suami murh tahe bisravhe; jann Nanak kottan me kouu bhajan Raam ko paavhe.”
